Music
All my personal likes and dislikes of music can’t possibly be put into words right here and, after all, you probably wouldn’t want to know all the fine details, anyway. But let’s give it a try and see what I’m listening to.
The answer is quite frankly rather easy and quickly found: almost everything.
If you look through the .mp3 files in my Windows Media Player you’ll find anything from Timbaland to the Backstreet Boys, from Carrie Underwood to Ray Charles to Alicia Keys to Elvis, the Beatles and Johnny Cash, from the French singer Carla Bruni to the Norwegian singer Maria Mena. Sprinkled throughout are lesser known or out-dated bands such as Train, Mattafix, Dido, Michelle Branch and The Frey.
My all-time favorites are Daughtry, Matchbox Twenty, and Keane and great, classic bands such as Coldplay and Oasis. I adore the power of Lifehouse lyrics (for instance, in Broken and You and Me). And I recently discovered more amazing artists: John Legend and John Mayer.
Oh, by the way - Windows Media Player? Yeah. I gave up on iTunes altogether when I lost my iPod nano on a beach last year. That’s like pouring 250 bucks down the drain and IT SUCKED.
Moving on. There are a few amazing albums I wanted to mention.
The first one is Christina Aguilera’s album Stripped which - regardless of what kind of music you usually like - is without a doubt one of the greatest albums out there. Sara Bareilles‘ album Little voice and Matchbox Twenty’s Exile on mainstream are filled with only amazing songs as well. Perfection on all three of these.
I love country music (which has everything to do with my stay in Kentucky, given that we don’t have country music over here) and I believe that Jake Owen’s album Startin’ with me as well as Carrie Underwood’s album Some hearts are really awesome. So is more or less any album Keith Urban has ever made, especially Be here. Same goes for Sugarland - amazing band, every song is simply beautiful.
Finally, please remember that this section of HBN.com is constantly changing so check back from time to time. You are also more than welcome to recommend a band or a single artist to me.
