Ready to get started on that Advent calendar
This, I guess, can be seen as a sequel to yesterday’s post of Extreme Christmas Enthusiasm and also to this post about how I’m going to make an Advent calendar for my host sisters.
Today, it’s grey outside. And cold. And rainy. And not pretty or autumn-y at all. So with soaked jeans and shoes filled with rain water I walked to the crafts store (yes, the one that already has their Christmas decoration up) right from the bus stop as I got back from uni in Maastricht and bought some of the materials I’m going to need.

I only bought a small amount, just in case I prove too clumsy to even attempt to get started on this whole project. If I actually get something together, I’ll go back and get more felt and stuff.
This is so exciting! I’m gonna go watch last night’s Daily Show while I’m finishing a load of laundry and then I’ll get right on it. Cross your fingers that I don’t end up bleeding or glued to the desk or anything!
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire…
Went by my favorite arts and crafts store today and THEY ARE PUTTING UP CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS.
Yes! Yes, yes. Triple yes. Christmas is not far, folks! I cannot wait for everyone to put up seasonal decoration and, truth be told, it does bother me that they just skip ahead and leave out fall altogether - I love fall! - but I am obsessed with Christmas (in case you hadn’t noticed).
Can. not. wait.
Fabulous felt: Christmas in the making!
I found a few great crafts projects online that I definitely want to try. I don’t have any material or tools here at home so I’m gonna have to start with some real simple things (involving felt and felt and then some) until someday I’ll have gathered more crafty stuff but I’m very excited about creating my own little Christmas here at my place. Also, I’m going to be making Advent calendars (or possibly one to share) for my host sisters Regan and Kennedy in Kentucky. I just love crafts! This is going to be so much fun, I’ll keep you posted!
First things first, though: I gotta finish some reading and then head to uni. I wish I didn’t have to go today and could just start on some ornaments or something. I won’t be home before 6 or 7 tonight so I probably won’t feel like going shopping for materials but we’ll see…
